Coming Out of the Cold
Ken Harrell’s Journey to Top-Performer in Inside Sales
Before joining the Infinity team, Ken Harrell was a field sales agent selling solar arrays and solar panels. “I am kind of a green, earthy guy,” says Ken.
He had been in sales for 15 years, but after a couple of winters selling door-to-door in Michigan, Ken was ready to switch to inside sales. He says he has no regrets.
“Last week it was 56 degrees on Tuesday, and by Thursday it was 6 degrees. You are talking about a 50-degree swing in the wrong direction,” says Ken. “With a field job, you have to deal with the elements.”
Today, Ken doesn’t have to deal with the cold, but he still gets to make a difference. As an inside sales Account Executive with Infinity, he represents a digital marketing company and works with small business customers, to help them get to the top of online search.
“I’m helping clients, small business owners all across America and Canada to save money and to make money,” says Ken. “I’m doing my part to help the middle class exist.”
Although Ken is relatively new, he is already a top-performer. To get up and running, Ken went through an intense 4-week training process. He credits the listening skills and competitive spirit he gained over his long sales career for his quick success. That, and “the fact that Infinity invested so much time and effort into making sure I knew how to use all of the tools and had a solid knowledge of the services we provide,” he says.
Now Ken is looking forward to building on his early success and growing his career with Infinity. The week he started, he saw several account executives—like him—get promoted to assistant and sales management positions. Several of those former managers moved up to director-level roles. All of these opportunities opened when Infinity expanded sales and service programs with its client base.
“Those promotions gave me a lot of confidence that there’s a real career path here, and that Infinity promotes from within,” says Ken.
When asked what advice he would give to people like him who are considering to apply for a position at Infinity and join his team, he says:
“Be open-minded and embrace the opportunity. No one here is going to let you fail—that’s just the way the culture and environment are at Infinity.”
