Changing the Scenery
How April Smith Changed Course from Retail to Inside Sales
April Smith has been in sales since she was 17 years old. Before coming to Infinity, she worked as manager for a beauty supply store. Although she loved the direct interaction with customers, working retail became physically demanding, and she felt ready to explore new opportunities.
“I needed to find a different type of scenery,” says April. “I wanted to try something different. Expand the repertoire of life experiences and learn something new.”
She had an open mind about where she would go next.
But she says, “I did not want to settle on any job for the sake of getting out of sales. I wanted something that I could stick with for quite some time and gather a lot of useful skills.”
Although she wasn’t looking for sales specifically, she applied to Infinity, and she was encouraged by the warm and friendly attitude of the recruiter. It was this first contact that made her confident she was going to be happy here.
“I was ready for a change, and Infinity seemed like a really good company to come and work for,” says April.
Joining Infinity has been quite a change from retail. At first, she struggled to get customers to answer her phone calls. However, her vast expertise in sales and customer service helped her to persevere through the challenge.
“It’s a different kind of satisfaction, but I still get the chance to make my clients happy,” says April. “I just keep calling and try to touch as many people positively as I can.”
To others in retail who are considering making a change in their careers and applying for a position at Infinity, she says:
“If you love to interact with people—even through a phone—and you want to try something different, Infinity is a great option.”
